My parents' 40th wedding anniversary is coming up and I have NO idea what to get them. They're driving up to Michigan with my Grandma that weekend, so they can visit her sister and the rest of my mom's family. I was thinking about just giving them money for gas and whatever but that's not really thoughtful. I honestly can't think of anything they actually need and if I ask them what they want, I won't get any kind of useful response. I was thinking about gift cards for restaurants, maybe.
What the hell do you get people who've been married for 40 years?
My mother emailed me just to tell me to bring a jacket with me to San Francisco.
I just got done showing my dad how to use iTunes. We ripped CDs (Clapton and Fleetwood Mac), downloaded from the iTunes store (first song - "Sympathy for the Devil") and transferred songs to his new Nano. My dad is a smart cookie and teaching him techie things is easy, mostly because he doesn't think he already knows what he's doing. That's the hardest type of person to teach, for sure.
I have to say that the iTunes basics are easy to explain and I think he'll have fun with it. The Nano was a great gift idea because there are always add ons with an iPod - a case, car adapter, iTunes gift cards, etc. My dad is hard to shop for so this was definitely a great idea.
