Word is that U2 is working on a new album due out in November (squee!). Completely unrelated to that, I was listening to "War" earlier today and then found this tonight. I forgot this video even existed.
Three things:
1. I don't get the acrobats, at all.
2. I'm not sure why this song was picked for a video. I love it because I'm a U2 fan but it doesn't really go with "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day," in terms of picking singles.
3. Cuties. They're all in their way early 20's in this video.
Audio: Show us cover art or share a track from the first band or solo artist you flipped for.

That'd be U2 in 1993 when I was 13. Something in my brain spasmed and I became ob-freaking-sessed. I don't know where it came from because I was totally "whatever" about them up until that point. I didn't even jump in at a logical time, either. 1993 was when they had been on tour with "Achtung Baby" for a while and they pushed "Zooropa" out the door, presumably to keep the momentum of the previous release going. I saw the video for "Numb" and BAM! I was obsessed. I don't get it, either.
I've been a fan ever since, though. Someday I'll write about the time Andrew and I stood in line outside the United Center for 17 hours during the Elevation tour and got in the front row. That was one of the best days of my life, minus the horrible sunburn.
I just got a copy of U2 by U2, I think I'll start paging through that tonight. It's a big ol' coffee table book of interviews and pictures from the band's collection, many of which I've never seen. Exciting!
Below is the video that sparked the love affair. Bono looks freakin' hot in this video!
But this new U2 video is making my day a little better.
I thought this performance was beautiful.
These probably aren't the oldest items I own, but they're definitely the oldest U2 items I own. I purchased these on eBay a few years ago...
Top: "U2 Three," "I Will Follow," and "Gloria." Bottom: "11 O'Clock Tick Tock," "A Day Without Me," and "A Celebration." "U2 Three" is the oldest, it was U2's first single.
These are all re-issues, to the best of my knowledge. They're not worth as much as the original pressings but I'm not planning on selling them anytime soon!
